Dongjiang Lake is a massive reservoir covering 160 square kilometers, but its most famous attraction is "Little Dongjiang" — a 12-kilometer stretch of river where the temperature difference between cold lake water and warm air creates an ethereal mist every morning from April to November. Fishermen in traditional straw hats and coats cast nets from wooden boats against the misty backdrop, creating one of China's most iconic photographic scenes.

Mang Mountain is the southernmost national forest park in China, spanning 200 square kilometers of pristine subtropical forest straddling the border between Hunan and Guangdong. The park features dramatic granite peaks, ancient temples, and the "Mountain Ridge in the Sky" — a cliffside walkway offering dizzying views over the forest canopy. It's home to rare species including the clouded leopard and the Mang Mountain pit viper.

Gaoyi Ridge is a stunning Danxia landscape characterized by red sandstone ridges carved by wind and water into dramatic shapes resembling chairs, boats, and mythical creatures. The contrast between the rust-red rock, green vegetation, and turquoise water pools creates a painterly landscape. Walking trails along the ridge tops provide panoramic views of the surrounding hills and reservoirs.

Suxian Mountain is a scenic urban park in central Chenzhou, named after a legendary Taoist immortal (Suxian) who supposedly achieved enlightenment here. The mountain rises 500 meters above the city and features ancient trees, Taoist temples, a historic pavilion, and the "Three Wonders" — rare inscriptions by Song Dynasty poets. The summit offers panoramic views of the entire Chenzhou valley.

Rucheng County, about 2 hours south of Chenzhou, is home to some of Hunan's finest natural hot springs. The thermal water emerges at 98°C and is rich in minerals. Several resorts offer private and public bathing pools set in lush mountain scenery. The springs have been used for therapeutic purposes since the Tang Dynasty.

Wanhua Rock is a massive karst cave system spanning 2,200 meters with 28 interconnected chambers. The underground river, stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars create a spectacular subterranean landscape. The cave has been a tourist attraction since the Song Dynasty, with ancient inscriptions left by visitors over the centuries.
