One of China's most important ceramic heritage sites, Shanglin Lake was the center of Yue Kiln celadon production during the Tang and Song dynasties. The lake's shores are littered with ceramic shards from centuries of production. The site museum displays exquisite "secret color" celadon (mise ci) once reserved exclusively for imperial use.

The world's longest sea-crossing bridge at 36 kilometers, connecting Cixi to Jiaxing across Hangzhou Bay. Completed in 2008, the bridge reduced the travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai by 120 kilometers. A mid-bridge viewing platform shaped like a flying crane offers ocean views and houses a restaurant.
